UK committed to Bosnia and Herzegovina's future in the EU (06/11/2009)
During his visit, the Foreign Secretary will meet BiH Foreign Minister Sven Alkalaj, Federation Prime Minister Mustafa Mujezinovic and the Collective Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Discussions will focus on BiH's long-term EU and NATO aspirations. The Foreign Secretary will emphasise the importance of constitutional reforms agreed by all BiH constituent peoples, as these will be essential for quicker progress towards EU accession and responding to the global economic downturn.
There have been several ministerial level meetings between the two countries recently. Baroness Kinnock, in her capacity as Minister for Europe, visited Sarajevo between 16 and 17 July this year. During her visit, she met with Valentin Inzko, High Representative / EU Special Representative to BiH. Valentin Inzko also visited London in May this year and met with the Foreign Secretary.
